Creating a car themed photo backdrop & box cars! DIY Toddler's 2nd Birthday Pt.2

I'm back with another update on our fast-paced journey as we gear up for Leo’s "Too Fast Too Furious" themed second birthday bash. This week was all about speed, creativity, and some clever DIY tricks that I'm thrilled to share with you.

Our little DIY project shifted into high gear with the addition of more box cars for the kiddos. After our initial trial, assembling and painting the cars became a breeze. Inspired by the iconic silver car with blue stripes from the movie, I decided to forego the vinyl and Cricut for some old-school crafting using painter’s tape and cardstock for decorations. Trust me, sometimes simpler is faster, and in this case, definitely more fun!

The pathway to the party needed to be spectacular, so instead of settling for pricey, pre-made roads, we rolled out our own with a big black roll of paper and some white film tape. This DIY road not only saved us some bucks but also doubled the excitement as it led our little guests right to the photo-worthy setup.

Remember last year's rainbow arch? Well, it got a fast and furious makeover too! Instead of repainting, we wrapped it in black paper and adorned it with white tape to transform it into a racetrack. This upcycled piece isn't just for show—it’s going into Leo’s playroom post-party because, let’s be honest, he absolutely loves cars!

The highlight of our week was setting up an adorable photo shoot for Leo with the newly crafted props. We stripped down the backdrop to a clean white, added Leo’s little red car, and even incorporated some balloons for that extra pop of fun. My mom crafted an adorable racer outfit for him, which just added to the cuteness overload!

As we approach the finish line (party day, that is!), the excitement is building up. We’re adding final touches like a checkered pattern on an arch, creating fake sponsor logos with clever names like “Michelin baby” and “Yoko Mama Good Times,” and even contemplating making some actual checkered flags if time allows.

Stay tuned as we continue to shift gears and speed through the last leg of our party preparations. It’s been a whirlwind of creativity and fun, and I can't wait to share the final setup with you all. Thanks for joining me on this DIY ride, and remember—sometimes, the best celebrations come together one piece of tape and a splash of paint at a time!

Catch you at the finish line!
